Kids Reading Across Rhode Island, Rhode Island’s One Book, One State community read program for kids, is kicking off its 7th year! This program, offered in partnership with the The Office of Library and Information Services, encourages students across the state in grades 3 through 6 to read the same book, and engage in community discussions and programs. This year’s selection is Roller Girl by award winning author and RISD graduate Victoria Jamieson.

Victoria

Victoria Jamieson will speak and sign books throughout the afternoon and a free signed copy of Roller Girl will be given out (one per family) while supplies last.

Victoria Jamieson received her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and worked as a children’s book designer before becoming a full-time illustrator. She has also worked as a portrait artist aboard a cruise ship, and has lived in Australia, Italy, and Canada.

She now lives with her family in Portland, Oregon, where she maintains a not-so-secret identity as Winnie the Pow, skater with the Rose City Rollers roller derby league. Her first graphic novel, Roller Girl, is a New York Times and Indie bestseller, and the recipient of the 2016 Newbery Honor Award.
