Rhode Island Center for the Book presents a kickoff event for the 2019 statewide read, What the Eyes Don’t See, by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse will serve as the program’s Honorary Chair.

Join us for a lively introduction to the book’s themes with an expert panel moderated by Jim Ludes, Executive Director of the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy at Salve Regina University, and a preview performance by Living Literature

The presentation will take place on January 27 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Salve Regina University, Newport, RI.

Tickets are $20 and include one paperback copy of the book. Light refreshments will be provided. For more information contact Kate Lentz at kate@ribook.org or Elissa Sweet at events@mysticbooksinc.com.

“As a voracious reader, I’m glad to join the Rhode Island Center for the Book to introduce the new Reading Across Rhode Island selection,” said U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. “What the Eyes Don’t See holds timely lessons from the tragedy in Flint, Michigan about the importance of taking an active role in democracy, standing up for what you know is right, and fighting for environmental justice.”
