Chelsea Clinton’s Start Now! is Elementary Companion Read for Rising

Chelsea Clinton’s Start Now! is the Elementary Companion to Read for Rising, the 2020 Reading Across Rhode Island book. Chelsea Clinton visited Rhode Island on March 3rd to talk to young Rhode Island readers about her book and the important topic of activism.

The Center for the Book had a full day of activities planned for Clinton, included a visit to South Providence Community Library an appearance on Story in the Public Square at Rhode Island PBS and a presentation at Lincoln School in Providence in conjunction with Sophia Academy and The Learning Community.

With information on problems both large and small, Start Now! breaks down the concepts of health, hunger, climate change, endangered species and bullying, so that readers can understand the world around them, and how they can make a difference in their own lives, as well as in their communities and the world at large. With comic drawings to illustrate Clinton’s words, photographs of real live kids who are making a difference today, and lists of ways to get involved, this book has been called “the perfect introduction to young activists who want to make the world a better place.”

Clinton’s book and visit  are the  demonstration of  the Center’s mission to connect communities through a shared reading experience. Contact kate@ribook.org for a copy of the book.
