The 14th year of Reading Across Rhode Island culminates with a lecture by David McCullough, author of this year’s selected book, The Wright Brothers, on Saturday May 21. The lecture will take place at 2:00 PM, with opportunities to browse books for sale and bid on penny social items just before the event.

Guests can also choose to join Rhode Island Center for the Book volunteers for a lunch before the lecture, prepared by culinary students at the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center in the Toll Gate High School cafeteria.

To attend the LECTURE ONLY:
Please purchase tickets titled Lecture Only for $25. Doors open at 1:30 PM.

To join us for the LUNCH & LECTURE:
Please purchase tickets titled Lunch & Lecture for $40. Lunch begins at 12:00 PM with time to socialize with friends and bid on penny social items. Lunch guests will also be seated first at the Lecture, just before doors open at 1:30 PM.

2016 Reading Across Rhode Island Title: The Wright Brothers by David McCullough

PROVIDENCE, RI –Reading Across Rhode Island, Rhode Island’s One Book, One State
community read program kicks off its 14th year by inviting everyone to join in the reading of The
Wright Brothers by David McCullough. Reading Across Rhode Island is a project of the
Rhode Island Center for the Book at the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, made
possible through a vibrant collaboration of librarians, teachers, book group leaders and readers
from across the state. The 2016 program runs from January through May with readers in Rhode
Island classrooms, libraries, bookstores and book groups invited to join discussions and
participate in local community events such as lectures, exhibits and dramatic interpretations
centered on this year’s selection
