The RIsing Youth Poetry Collective is a statewide, interschool network for young poets and those curious about written and spoken word poetry. Through virtual and in-person gatherings, scheduled group readings and workshops, and an online communal events calendar, RIsingseeks toprovide a space for high-school-age Rhode Islanders to celebrate and create poetry, participate in literary community, and to facilitate connection, fellowship, and creative collaboration.
Participation in the RIsing Youth Poetry Collective comprises of:
–attendance at twice-monthly online collective-wide gatherings for community updates, event planning, support, and poetry shop-talk
–a commitment to creating regular poetry programming, such as readings,
open mics, and workshops within one’s school, library, and/ or neighborhood community
–an effort to promote the collective within one’s community and engagementwith social channels
–attendance at RIsing’s quarterly in-person poetry sharing events
